Preparing for your visit
At Barracloughs, we know that an eye examination is more than just a check to measure how well you can see - it’s a vital check-up for your overall well-being. We want to ensure your time with us is as seamless and productive as possible.
To help us provide the most accurate care and the best possible vision, please take a moment to see what you should bring along to your specific appointment type.
To give our optometrists a clear picture of your ocular history and current needs, please bring:
- Your current spectacles: Even if you only use them for reading or driving, seeing your current prescription is incredibly helpful.
- A list of medications: Certain systemic medications can affect your vision or eye health.
- Your NHS paperwork and National Insurance number: If you are eligible for an NHS-funded eye exam or have a complex lens voucher.
- Your current sunglasses: If you wear sunglasses, we can check them over for you - if you don't wear them... you really should! Your eyes need protection from harmful UV rays. Also, if you are coming in for a full eye exam, we may occasionally need to use drops that can make your vision temporarily blurry or sensitive to light. Bringing a pair of sunglasses for the journey home could be helpful!
